How to Start a Skincare Routine for Beginners
Share
Building a skincare routine doesn’t have to be difficult. It’s important to start with the basics, use products that make sense for your skin, and add additional products as needed.
The 3 Essentials
- Cleanser: removes dirt, sweat, excess oil, makeup, sunscreen, and leftover skincare products. Your cleanser should be gentle and shouldn’t strip your skin.
- Moisturizer: hydrates and supports a healthy skin barrier. Every skin type, even oily skin, needs proper hydration.
- Sunscreen (SPF 30+): protects your skin from UV damage and helps hyperpigmentation from worsening. Choose a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and reapply every two hours when outdoors.
Your Simple Daily Routine
Morning: Cleanser -> Moisturizer-> Sunscreen
Night: Cleanser -> Moisturizer
When Should You Add More Products?
Once you’re comfortable and consistent with your routine, you can gradually introduce products that target specific concerns.
Add one new product at a time to minimize irritation and help identify what works best for your skin.
You don’t need a 10-step routine to see results. The right products and consistency are more important.
